The short answer
Yes. Since July 13, 2026, Albertans can use Play Alberta or private operators registered with the AGLC. You must be 18 or older and in the province.
We do not list offshore casinos on this page. Albertans should use operators registered with the AGLC, because that is where provincial player protection applies.
How Online Casino Alberta Regulation Works
Under the iGaming Alberta Act, operators need two things: a registration with Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC), and a commercial agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC). The AGLC is the regulator, and the AiGC handles market operations.
| Market data, Alberta | Value | Date | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Market launch | July 13, 2026 | Launch day | Blakes |
| Registered operators | About 50 | July 10, 2026 | CDC Gaming |
| Shared player pools with Ontario | Not available | July 2026 | PokerNews |
Counts differ between reports and change as sites go live, and registered does not mean already launched. Rely on the AGLC list for the current picture.
Best Online Casino in Alberta: How to Choose
- Go to the AGLC website and find the registered list.
- Confirm the brand and domain.
- Compare games, payments and limits.
- Set limits when you sign up.
A legal online casino in Alberta must be registered. If a real money site is not on that list, it does not have provincial protection.
Play Alberta
Play Alberta is the government-run site operated by the AGLC since 2020. It offers slots, tables and sports betting, and it was the only regulated option until the 2026 opening.
Online Casino Edmonton and Calgary
The same rules apply across the province, so there is no separate online casino for Edmonton or Calgary. Players must be 18 or over and physically in Alberta for regulated play.
What Changes for Offshore Sites
Reports at launch indicated a transition period for some international operators, including poker sites, ending around October 2026. Offshore sites without AGLC registration are outside this system, and you would have no provincial regulator to turn to. Check the current AGLC guidance.

Alberta Online Casino Bonus Offers
Bonuses and promos in Alberta come from each registered site, and the terms decide what they are worth. When you compare a welcome bonus, look at wagering and time limits before the headline amount. Our bonus guide shows how to work this out.
Fastest Payout Online Casino in Alberta
A quick payout depends on your method and on whether your account is verified. Interac and e-wallets are usually the first options to compare. The market is still new, so few independent reviews exist yet, and most PlayAlberta online casino reviews cover the government site only.
You may also see "online casino AB" or "AB online casino" in searches. Both mean the same provincial market, whether you live in Fort McMurray, Edmonton or Calgary.
